Heiko Rischer

Heiko Rischer is Head of Plant Biotechnology at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Docent of Pharmaceutical Biology at the University of Helsinki, Finland. He received his Diploma in Biology from the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany.
His interest in plant secondary metabolites brought him to the University of Wuerzburg, Germany, where he obtained his PhD from the Institute of Organic Chemistry for his work on the biosynthesis of acetogenic alkaloids.
Currently Dr. Rischer manages a variety of interdisciplinary projects concentrating on the biotechnological production of phytopharmaceuticals incl. small molecules and proteins and other plant-derived compounds.
